I watched Victim (1961) this afternoon, and I realized that the song Odd Man Out by Pet Shop Boys is literally based on the film, like I knew that it sampled it, but the lyrics incorporate lines from the movie. Cool.

The music video for Smalltown Boy is super kino, like it feels like the trailer for a nonexistent '80s drama film.

I'm not sure which is worse, music that only sounds good through headphones, or music that only sounds good inebriated.

I've always kept a lot of browser bookmarks, and sometimes I'll re-visit ones I saved years ago to see what my younger self thought was worth saving online. Sometimes, it's an art tutorial that I've progressed past the need for, or a fan page for a show that I loved in middle school. Sometimes, it's an article that I felt deeply in the past, but upon reading it now I realize that my worldview is no longer in alignment with it. Sometimes, I find myself even more in sympathy with some writing than I was then.

I don't see the use in complaining about the sequel-remake industrial complex that currently has a chokehold over mainstream entertainment in the US, because literally no one is forcing you to go see the umpteenth animated children's movie sequel or stream the latest marvel spinoff series. Like, it's fun to crack jokes about this stuff, but I don't see the point in spending hours harping on about something you can simply avoid, much less hate watching these shows and movies.

@heteroclite I wish that I could fix this because I feel like there's a lot of good music that I can't fully appreciate due to this.

I don't self insert as the subject of the singer's affections when I listen to romantic songs, nor do I put my place in that of the singer themselves (apparently, a good deal of people do either or both). Even so, I've noticed that I don't really like many anglophone love songs by male artists where he's singing to the listener. It could just be a genre related bias because most poppy dance music has feminine vocals. If the guy singing sounds a bit flamboyant it doesn't bother me though.
