Hiya, owlposting is back on PikiDiary! @dorian runs this account and it dedicates some time of their day (probably) to post a picture of an owl (and maybe a fun fact if I feel like it).

No owl photos belong to me, I get all photos from https://ebird.org unless stated otherwise. I try to change up the owl species every day. Daily uploads are not guaranteed but I will try my best :owlfavicon:

DAY 001: Eastern Screech Owl, megascops asio

These small owls are most commonly found in eastern North America, spanning from Canada to Mexico. Eastern screech owls have two color morphs: gray and rufous (reddish-brown), both pictured below. The rufous morph is more common in southern reigons and the gray morph helps it blend into hardwood tree bark. Western screech owls and eastern screech owls appear similar but they are different species.
